The Silent Wife-Book Review
Book: The Silent Wife
Author: A.S.A. Harrison
Rating: 1/5
Genre: Thriller
Plot:
Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Both are at the mercy of their unrelenting wants and needs, and both are unaware that the path they are on is careening toward murder. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event, oblivious of the destiny they are jointly creating, caught in the thrall of disaster unfolding. Chapter by chapter, the narrative evolves from their alternating perspectives. He is a committed cheater. She lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds. She likes to settle scores. He decides to play for keeps. She has nothing left to lose. The alternating voices pitch the reader back and forth between protagonists in conflict who are fighting for self-preservation, both of them making deeply consequential mistakes, behaving in ever more foolhardy ways, losing at the games they’re playing. The Silent Wife is a finely wrought, emotionally charged psychological thriller about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that can’t be made, and promises that won’t be kept.
Thoughts:
I am not sure what the fuss was about for this book.
The book I felt was very confusing. There were so many plot lines thrown in and none perused.
It felt like the author just stuffed in every play he got into the same book.
The narration of the characters did not get me to like them or understand them. The fact that Todd was cheating, but questions Jodi on people she might be seeing or dating is downright comical. How can a person have such different views on ones personal doing and others.
The book got a little interesting around 100 pages or so, and then lost track again.
There was nothing thrilling about the book or the plot.
And the name , they weren’t even married, so I don’t get the name either.

Quotes
“You will not be the same person coming out of a relationship as you were going into it.”
“Other people are not here to fulfill our needs or meet our expectations, nor will they always treat us well. Failure to accept this will generate feelings of anger and resentment. Peace of mind comes with taking people as they are and emphasizing the positive.”
