Extending Indonesia Visa on Arrival

I know, its daunting at times to understand the visa process of few countries. And, I agree Indonesia is one of them ! Until I did the process on my own , I was keen on just paying off an agent to do the job for me.So, i have listed in simple terms the process of Extending Indonesia Visa on Arrival below.

What is VOA ?

VOA or Visa On Arrival is a visa(permit to enter and stay in the country) you will get when you arrive at the airport, rather than getting one from your home country consulate.

Which Visa do you need ?

If you are planning to stay for 30 days or less, you can get VOA in airport and 169 countries have free VOA for Indonesia.

Check if you are eligible for free VOA :

If you intend on staying for more than 30 days, you will have to pay 35$ visa fees to get the VOA.

I repeat - you cannot extend free VOA, even if you are eligible for a free visa, please get the visa by paying the fees and save the receipt.

I hope you are reading this beforehand.

Requirements to get VOA:

  • Valid passport(minimum 6 months)
  • Return tickets with return dates within the 30 day/60 day period.
  • Or onward tickets if you are planning to fly on-ward.
  • Your stay details, hotel of homestay booking etc.
  • $35 or Rp.500.000 for paid visa

How long can i Stay after extending the VOA ?

You can extend your VOA only once, so you can stay a maximum of 60 days, in one stretch.

How to extend the VOA ?

You can extend VOA to stay for another 30 days in 2 ways:

  • Do a country exit before 30 days VOA expires, and when you come back you can get another VOA, but beware, you might be questioned by the immigration officers on why you are re-entering on such short duration, purpose of your stay etc.

TIPS

  • If you are doing it the first time, your family member will have to come to the office at-least 2 times.Once ,to submit the form as it needs signature, and for fingerprint and photograph.
  • But if you have the form in handy, you will have to take them only once.
